STORYBOOK SUNDAY: Rosie and Friends, One-of-a-Kindness by Helen Hipp

HI guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

We're celebrating another day of bookish fun with Storybook Sunday! For those not up to speed on the post, I read a lot of great storybooks and thought, why not give them their own day in the sun. Hence, Storybook Sunday! Feel free to join the fun and create a post on your own site with the same name. I'd love to see any linked up in the comments! Anywho...back to the matter at hand.

So, tomorrow is National Kindness Day and I thought what better time to feature a book centered on the very concept of showing kindness to others as well as ourselves, and making the world a better place.  The selected title also happens to be sharing its official release day with this "holiday", so once you've finished up here, you can order your copy and get started on bringing smiles to the faces and lives of those that surround you.  Ready or not, today's featured title is ready for the spotlight!  Via Socialminded Media Group, please welcome...

About the book...
Embark on a new safari with Hornsby the rhino as he comes face-to-face with losing his sense of belonging. No longer accepted by his herd, Hornsby searches for companionship. With the help of his new buddies, Hornsby learns that his life is one of a kind, and that spreading his kindness is a good way to make new friends!

This is the story of how Rosie and her dearest animal friends showed a newcomer to their part of the Savannah just how far kindness can take you.  You see, our newest addition to the story is Hornsby and from his name, I bet you can detect what it is he cherishes most.  BINGO...that pointy leading appendage on the front of his face, but you see, in the animal kingdom, it's not just a matter of pride, but function and Hornsby really knew how to put that thing to use!  Problem is, once things changed and he wasn't as perfect as he and the other rhinos thought he ought to be, his life fell off the proverbial track.  He was in crisis and headed down a slippery slope...was there any way to get his status back with the other rhinos?  What was he to do with his life without a purpose, a dream, or even a goal?  Good thing misery loves company (not really, but it always seem like one induces the other) because Rosie and her animal pals are on the case!

I, for one, liked Rosie and her friends immensely, though Hornsby took some getting used.  Hey, I would be bent out of shape too if what happened to him, happened to me, but the moral of this story isn't about what was and can never be, but rather one of hope and second chances.  Hornsby was THE man, er, um, RHINO, ready to take on the world one foul up at a time.  A twist of faith later and what do you know, his top "man" status is gone and he's left in the dust without a friend in the world...until Rosie and TLC happen upon him and BOOM, instant (if not unlikely) friends!  With their help, there's nothing Hornsby can't do...and the same can be said for readers young and old.  Combine the lovely story with the vibrant illustrations, and you've got the perfect way to celebrate National Kindness Day.
